Note: This guide assumes that you have already installed the MetaMask browser extension on your device. If you have not yet installed MetaMask, please visit metamask.io to download and install the extension before proceeding.
Open MetaMask and Create a New Account
The first step to connect the Avalanche network to MetaMask is to open the MetaMask extension on your browser. To do this, click on the fox icon in the top-right corner of your browser window.
Once MetaMask opens, you will need to create a new account (or use an existing one) to connect to the Avalanche network. If you’re creating a new account, follow these steps:
1.1. Click on the circular icon in the top-right corner of the MetaMask window.
Click on “Create Account” from the drop-down menu.
Enter a name for your new account and click “Create” to proceed. This new account will be used to interact with the Avalanche network.
Add the Avalanche Network to MetaMask
Now that you have created a new account or selected an existing one, the next step is to add the Avalanche network to MetaMask. Follow these steps to do so:
2.1. Click on the network selection dropdown menu located at the top of the MetaMask window. It should display the current network you are connected to (e.g., Ethereum Mainnet).
2.2. In the dropdown menu, scroll down and click on “Custom RPC” to add a new network.
2.3. You will now need to enter the Avalanche network details. Fill in the fields with the following information:
Network Name: Avalanche Mainnet
New RPC URL: https://api.avax.network/ext/bc/C/rpc
Chain ID: 43114
Symbol: AVAX
Block Explorer URL: https://cchain.explorer.avax.network/
