Make Money While You Travel

Many people would like to go on vacations, but they feel they can’t because of financial situations or other timely events in their life. And money has a lot to do with that. If vacations were free or cost less, maybe people would not mind several vacations per year. If you are enthusiastic about holidays, but money is an issue, you can ease the pain with a few apps that help you earn money while traveling. The income is not much, but it is something that will contribute to small expenses.

Wondering how you can make money from your road trip? Roadie pays people to transport goods in their trunks to various places in the US. For a short distance, deliveries expect $8-$50. Long distances with a lot of luggage could earn you around $650—or more if it is a pet.

This job is not very different from other freelancer jobs, and you can even write off the mileage on your taxes.

Field Agent is a good excuse to travel. It connects you with companies that need on-the-ground market research. If you have the app, you only have to create a new login for the country you are currently in. The app will find gigs near you, and you will earn $2-$12 for simple tasks like checking prices.

If by any chance there is some extra space in your travel bag, you can fill it with goods that are transported to your destination for extra cash using Airmule. Alternatively, you can have an extra bag for that. Being a mule, you will earn 80% of the sender’s fee—this could be $40 for about five pounds and an additional $6 for every extra pound.

For now, this job is only for the UK or US and China (this trip could earn you $300 one-way). However, very soon it will be available internationally.

Apart from making your Instagram followers jealous, travel photos can earn you money. With Foap you can sell the photos to legendary brands like Visit Sweden, Garnier and Heineken for their digital marketing purposes.

To make money, download Foap and upload a great photo. If a company buys it, you earn $5. And that is not even the best part—you can sell the same photo to countless businesses and get $5 each time.

Occasionally, Foap features “Missions” where a brand requests specific pictures, for example, “Christmas in Poland.” If you emerge as the Mission’s winner, you earn at least $100.

Note that when you sell a photo on Foap, the buyers obtain a non-exclusive right to the picture.

There is usually so much waiting while traveling. You get bored and scroll through your Facebook feed every second hoping to find something interesting.  Instead of getting bored to death why not earn “SB” points for watching short videos and movie trailers using the Swagbucks Watch app. For every six videos, you make 2 SBs. 500 SB is roughly equal to $5.

Next time you are going on a vacation download any of these apps, and you may stumble on a decent hourly rate and enjoy your vacation even more.

How to Make Money with Snapchat

Snapchat is a new social media platform with billions of dollars in valuation (so it is safe to say that it is here to stay). It was released in 2011 and like almost every other app; it allows users to send videos and photos to followers. What sets it apart is the fact that messages you send disappear within ten seconds.

With many more features being introduced—like the Discover feature or the live feature that allows users in a certain event or city to crowdsource their snaps—Snapchat gets more interesting by the day.

So how do you make money?

The moment you sign up, Snapchat asks you if you would like to automatically add everyone who is in your contact list that has a Snapchat account. Accept and add them all; if you like, you can unfollow them later. Most people will add you if you first add them. Follow anyone you like; there are no negative implications as in Twitter or Facebook.

When creating content, there are important points to note;

•    First, consistency is key. Snap multiple times a day. You cannot afford to rest. People should get used to your content; let it be a daily dose.

•    Combine personality marketing with niche content. Snapchat allows you to market your products and your personality. Show people what you are selling through demos and testimonials but also show them who you are in real life.

•    Take advantage of what has been tried and tested. Attractive women and animals are more likely to drive engagement than anything else.

•    Pay for shoutouts. You can always tell some of your followers to give you a shout out either by posting your photo or video. In some instances, this is free, but for people with hundreds of followers, you have to make it worth their while.

•    Post your Snapcode on every platform. This is so easy and fun. Post your code on any site and someone gets to add you by taking a photo of the code.

•    Get live. Turn on Snapchat’s location for a chance to be included in the live story in case it is happening in your area. But turn this feature off for security purposes if you do not feel safe.

Nobody likes to miss out. Tap into this fear of missing out by offering a discount in a snap that disappears in 10seconds. You can create a discount page on your site, such as yourweb.com/Snapchat and send a snap video describing the discount. Do not forget to write the URL on the video and let them know it will expire in, maybe an hour—and take it down in an hour.

Snapcash, joint with PayPal, lets you send money to friends but you can use it for sales. Take a snap of your product and make sure it is really cool and send it. If anyone seems interested, offer to sell it to them right there on the spot through Snapcash.

When your audience trusts you, recommend products for them. If you land a nice company like FitTealife that pays $1 for every view, then you could be looking at a revenue source.

Snapchat is amazing and has so many young users. There are a lot of cool things you can sell to them.

Was ist deine Nische?

How to Make Money with a Podcast

In the past, many said that it was impossible to make money with the internet. Today, however, countless people are now earning their living through it. The same was also said about podcasting. Again, there are people whose main source of income is podcasting.

While you can find many reports on this, some podcasters prefer not to publish the reports of their earnings. Making money using a podcast works pretty much like any other internet property. Make content that attracts people then monetize that traffic. More traffic translates to more opportunities for making cash.

Sponsorships is the most common method in podcasting. It is also easier to implement than the others. Basically, it involves getting paid by an advertiser to mention their service or product on their show. Sponsors always look for a podcast with traffic. If the traffic is niche-focused, the better. Advertisers will get in touch with you if you have the numbers. Blubrry and Libsyn offer their clients opportunities for advertising. Others like Midroll also get you in touch with advertisers. Note that podcast hosts get a cut of your revenue.

Advertisers have realized that podcasting is growing fast. You can choose to maximize your profits by cutting out the middleman. This means finding sponsors on your own. What is your niche? What services or products would suit the product?  One other good thing about finding advertisers on your own is the fact that you get to negotiate the rate. Instead of diluting your show’s integrity selling other people’s stuff, promote your own work.

There are two main reasons why this is a good idea. First, you will keep most of the profits and not just get a small percentage. Second, you will enjoy free traffic. This money-making method can be quite lucrative. Among the products you can sell include video series, courses, and eBooks. Services include design, writing, and coaching. Once you have decided on a product or service, drive traffic to the sales funnel using your podcast. You can promote yourself as well.

If you believe in your expertise in the niche and promote yourself as a guru, it will be easier to get gigs, sell your books, or get coaching clients. The best way to advertise yourself is by sharing your skills and knowledge with listeners. Your credibility will grow with your audience. Premium content can see your listeners become paying customers. Offer things such as a subscription service, past episodes’ catalog, exclusive episodes, or a paid community.

A good example is recording an episode, playing a portion for free, then having listeners pay for the rest of it. People can be very generous. If your show adds value to listeners, they will have no problem donating just to show appreciation. Ask nicely and be likable. When you decide to do this, make the donation process quick and easy.

Make Money as a Beauty Salon Owner

Are you interested in perusing a career that is focused on beauty and fashion?  If you are, have you started to examine your career options yet?  If you haven’t, you will soon find that you have several different options.  One of those options is to start your own beauty salon business.

When it comes to owning and operating a beauty salon, there are many hopeful owners who wonder if it is possible to do.  Of course, starting any business can be a stressful and trying time, but it is more than possible for you to develop and run your own profitable beauty salon.  If you would like to learn more about how you can go about doing so, should you wish to do so, you will want to continue reading on.

Before deciding to open your own beauty salon, there are several important factors that you may want to take into consideration first.  One of those factors is your vision for your business. Do you want to start out small, like start out of your home, or do you want to start with your own storefront location?  If you would prefer to start your own beauty salon as a traditional business, not necessarily one that is a home based one, you will want to examine all available locations.  You need to carefully choose the location for your business. Be sure to choose a location that can accommodate to you and all your space needs, as well as one that does not have a lot of competition nearby.

Another factor that you may want to take into consideration is your beauty and fashion knowledge and experience.  While many individuals who wish to open their own beauty, salons have a love for beauty and fashion, not all do.  If you haven’t worked for a beauty salon before or if you haven’t attended beauty school or even just taken a beauty training course, you may want to think about doing so before you start your business.  Yes, there is a good chance that you will end up hiring your own workers and they can have most of the knowledge, but you will at least want to be familiar with the business that you run.

Startup costs are another factor that should be taken into consideration, when trying to determine if you can make a living running your own beauty salon.  Most businesses have startup costs, but it can be kind of expensive to get a beauty salon up and running.  In addition to building space, you will also need to purchase other fixtures and supplies.  There is a good chance that you will need a receptionist’s desk, hair care stations, nail care products, and possibly even tanning beds. These pieces of equipment can get costly, but is there financing assistance out there for you, should you need it.

As a reminder, running your own beauty salon is just one of the many careers that you can have that is focused on beauty, in one way or another.  However, if you have your heart set on running a beauty salon, it should be more than possible for you to do so.  Before you get started though, it is important that you take the time to familiarize yourself with all local, state, and federal laws concerning small businesses.

Beauty salons are becoming quite popular. They are a social institution just as much as they are a facility for enhancing appearance.

Business Overview

This business will suit you if you like enhancing other people’s confidence. It would be nice if you are sociable and have cosmetology training. Although you will not need a cosmetology license if you are performing the services yourself, it helps to understand them.

You may choose to hire a manager or do it yourself.

The growth potential of a business salon can be unlimited if you choose your location carefully.

Getting Started

To successfully run your beauty salon business, you should understand the details of a beauty salon function. If you have experience, things will work better for you. Also, understand the services to offer quality.

Before you open a salon, have a minimum of $60,000. This number varies depending on location, advertising and cost of equipment.

Steps to starting the business:

  • Plan your business.
  • Create a legal entity.
  • Register for taxes.
  • Open a bank account for the business.
  • Set up business accounting.
  • Obtain the necessary licenses and permits.
  • Obtain business insurance.
  • Define your brand.
  • Set up a web presence.

Do not forget to look for quality mentorship. Another thing, give enticing discounts initially.

Growing Your Business

The first step is to find out what the customers are looking for and fill that gap. Offer something like better color treatments or flexible service hours. Advertise and make sure people know about your business.

When customers come to your salon, make their experience great. This will make them come back.

The people you employ at your salon, technicians and stylists, will cause you to succeed or fail. Make sure they are both competent and friendly. Build your team at the beginning and hire more people only when necessary.

Legal Considerations

You may need a number of state licenses and permits to operate your beauty salon. Understand what is required in your state.

Protect your personal assets by:

Having a business bank account: this will separate your business’s assets from your personal assets. You will also have an easier time with taxes and accounting.

Having a business credit card: this will separate the business’s expenses from your personal expenses.

As long as your business has a physical location, you will need a Certificate of Occupancy (CO). It confirms that your business meets all government regulations, zoning laws and building codes.

If you are leasing, the landlord is the one that should have a CO, so confirm that they have one.

Earning Potential

The amount you should charge your customers depends on the stylists’ experience, your clientele and your location. Let junior stylists charge a lower amount and the masters charge higher.

As you run your business, expect ongoing expenses such as:

  • Building costs (upgrades, permits, utilities)
  • Equipment replacement
  • Advertising
  • Supplies
  • Salaries

In addition to the profit your salon brings in, you can make extra money selling beauty products.

As your business advances, learn about your customers and customize the services for them.

5 Reasons Why Passive Income Is Important

Passive income is the money you make automatically with little maintenance. It is the opposite of active income which you have to spend your time on to make money. This means that if you have an accident or get sick and are, consequently, incapacitated, you will not be able to have an income.

Many people around the world depend on active income. The wealthy ones, however, have different sources of passive income such as real estate.

Coming up with a stream of passive income is a huge deal. At first, you will have to spend a lot of time. During this time, you will barely make any money. However, after the heavy lifting is done, you will continue to get money.

There are countless streams of passive income that you can opt for including traditional means like real estate and online methods.

Initially, you will find it difficult but when you realize how important passive income is, you will start seeking out other streams.

Why Is Passive Income So Important?

It Offers the Freedom of Time

Time is your greatest asset. You can only use up time once; if it passes, then that’s it. Moments cannot be relieved. With passive income, you will have more time in your hands.

You will be flexible and not pressured to make ends meet every month. If you get to the point where your passive income is more than your expenses, you will have achieved total financial freedom. You can travel the world and do what you want.

It reduces Fear of the Future, Stress and Anxiety

Not being able to pay all your bills may cause hopelessness, anxiety and fear of what the future holds. You start asking the scary what-if questions. This affects your spiritual, physical and mental well-being.

If you constantly live in fear of what may happen in the future, you will be unable to enjoy the present. You cannot enjoy your life because worst case scenarios are playing repeatedly in your mind.

Passive income alleviates some of these worries. The thought of losing your job will not be that scary.

It Lets You Pursue Your Passion

There may be something that you are very passionate about, you would love to pursue it but money won’t allow. You have to work most of the time to pay off debt and bills. With passive income, you can do what you want even though it does not necessarily bring in a lot of money.

You Can Live and Work from Wherever You Want

You can never take too much time away from your work. Passive income allows you to tour the world. You do not have to worry about asking for permission from the boss.

You Get a Platform for Financial Growth and Stability

With automatic income, you are free from stress. Your expenses do not scare you because they are taken care of. You have all the time to think about other things and set new goals.

How TO Start Making Money with AdSense

AdSense is considered as one of the most powerful tools in a website publishers’ arsenal. It enables a person to monetize their sites easily. If used properly, it can generate a very large and healthy income for them. However, if you are not using them rightly and just maximizing the income you squeeze from it, you are leaving a lot of money on the table. Something all people hate doing.

How you can start earning money with AdSense can be done easily and quickly. You will be amazed at the results you will be getting in such a short period of time.

Start by writing some quality content articles which are also keyword incorporated. There are a lot of people given the gift of being good with words. Writing comes easy for them. Why not make it work in such a way that you will be earning some extra cash in the process.

There are three steps to put into mind before you begin writing your ads and having an effective AdSense.

Keyword search. Find some popular subjects, keywords or phrase. Select the ones which you think has more people clicking through. This is a keyword selector and suggestion tool that some sites are offering to those who are just their AdSense business.

Writing articles. Start writing original content with keywords from the topics that you have achieved in your search. Take note that search engines are taking pride in the quality of their articles and what you will be writing should keep up with their demands.

Quality content site.  Build a quality content site incorporated with AdSense ads that is targeting the subject and keywords of your articles and websites. This is where all that you’ve done initially will go to and this is also where they will prove their worth to you.

The proper positioning of your ads should be done with care. Try to position your ads where surfers are most likely to click on them. According to research, the one place that surfers look first when they visit a certain site is the top left. The reason behind this is not known. Maybe it is because some of the most useful search engine results are at the top of all other rankings. So, visitors tend to look in that same place when browsing through other sites.

Some of those who are just starting at this business may think they are doing well already and thinking that their clickthrough rates and CPM figures are quite healthy. However, there are more techniques and styles to generate more clicks to double your earnings. By knowing these techniques and working them to your advantage, you will realize that you will be getting three times more than other people who have been previously doing what they are doing.

Finally, AdSense has some excellent tracking statistics that allows webmasters and publishers to track their results across several sites on a site by site, page by page, or any other basis you wanted. You should be aware of this capability and make the most of it because it is one powerful tool that will help you find out which ads are performing best. This way, you can fine tune your AdSense ads and focus more on the ones being visited the most rather than those who are being ignored.

Another thing you should know. Banners and skyscrapers are dead. Ask the experts. So better forget about banners and skyscrapers. Surfers universally ignore these kinds of ad formats. The reason behind this is that they are recognized as an advert and advert are rarely of any interest that’s why people ignore them.

To really start making money with AdSense, you should have a definite focus on what you wanted to achieve and how you will go about achieving them. As with any other kind of business ventures, time is needed coupled with patience.

Do not just ignore your site and your AdSense once you have finished accomplishing them. Spare some time, even an hour, adjusting the AdSense ads on your sites to quickly trigger your AdSense income. Give it a try and you would not regret having gotten into AdSense in the first place.

Fact number 1: Kids in high school are making thousands of dollars every month with AdSense.

Fact number 2: Housewives, retirees, mom and dads, who are just staying at home and have never made a dime on the internet have created full-time incomes by simply placing AdSense ads on their web site or blog.

These are just some of the super AdSense earners. You may have already heard about their story for they are among the few who are on their way to making millions worth of cash just by promoting AdSense sites.

Anyone, any age and gender can become money generating AdSense publishers as long as they what it takes. How does one go about this Internet advertising?

Writing articles for AdSense is the way to do it. Using the right keywords in your articles and having Google ads on a certain site has become the most profitable way of marketing that anybody can get into. No experience and level of education needed. If you are not using this strategy or may not be aware of it in the first place, chances are you may be losing thousands of dollars’ worth of extra income and still do not know it yet.

This is one of the many reasons why writing original quality content articles is now the latest in marketing buzz. Content and links. When combined together becomes a really powerful tool to a successful web site and richer individuals. Many internet marketing professionals are already aware of the value of an original quality content and how using keywords can drive targeted traffic into their sites from the search engines.

So why don’t all these web site owners write and submit their own articles if that is what is important?

The simple and understandable answer is that it takes time to write articles, submit them and get targeted traffic to their websites. That is why they get the services of those who can spares sometime to write the articles that would cater to their site purpose but still turn out as a good quality and unique piece of work.

To get into the AdSense marketing business and start earning some good cash, ask yourself. Did you enjoy writing when you were in school? The Ultimate DIY Guide to Beautiful Product Photography

A potential customer will judge your brand and products based on how you visually represent your items. This means that your photos should be beautiful and of high-quality.

For new store owners, a professional photography studio can be a little costly. DIY product photography is the perfect alternative. You can take compelling photos as long as you have the right tools and use proper techniques.

The technique outlined below is referred to as The Window Light Technique. It is the best for those on a budget. It is a simple technique aimed at producing high-quality photos.

What You Will Need

The gear you use will greatly impact your photography. This is an issue that can be confusing to newcomers. High-end gadgets are not necessary. The only costly thing is probably the camera.

Camera

A super expensive Nikon camera gives awesome results but you can do without it. In fact, you can use your smartphone.

The Canon G10 is modest but you can shoot outstanding photos with it.

Start with what you have for now and see if the pictures are fine. The photo quality depends on more than just the camera.

Tripod

If you are working with a slow shutter camera and you hold it, you are likely to end up with blurry photos. That is why you need a tripod.

There are many cheap options on Amazon—there is no need to spend too much.

White Background

As a store owner, you may end up doing so many shoots. A white sweep is ideal because when it gets dirty, you can remove that dirty part.

For an even cheaper option, buy a poster board at the local art or drug store. When buying, choose pure white.

White Bounce Cards

When using window light, one side of your object will be directly struck by light while the other side will be the shadow side. Bounce cards are used to reflect light onto the shadow. The best material for bounce cards is foam board.

Another tactic is using a black foam board to deepen the shadow. It is useful when both the background and the product are white.

Table

A regular folding table will work just fine.

Tape

Clamps or tapes help to secure the board for a perfect sweep.

The Right Room

A window or windows close to a wall make the best room. A big window will let in more light.

How to Take Photos of Your Product

  • Set up the table: place it very close to the window and turn off lights in the room.
  • Set up the sweep: the sweep should be vertical.
  • Set up the camera: set the white balance to auto AWB. Turn the flash setting off then set the image settings to RAW or the largest JPG setting.
  • Set up the product: place it at the center of the surface.
  • Set up your reflector card: feel free to try different angles.
  • Take the picture and evaluate it.
  • Retouch your pictures.

What the Dollar’s Decline Really Means to Your Pocketbook

A single bad event, by itself, is rarely a cause for worry. But put that single bad event together with another seemingly unrelated bad event and, well, there could be serious trouble ahead.

Take the steady, troublesome decline of the value of the American dollar. (See -The Incredible Shrinking Dollar at http://www.collectivewizdom.com) That now well-established decline has turned into what appears eerily like a nosedive. The dollar has now lost about 46% of its value against this newly created Frankenstein of Old-World European currency. It makes some of us who like to travel every now and again nostalgic for the good old days of French francs and German marks.

The greenback’s decline means all of us Americans now have less purchasing power versus almost every other major currency —the European euro, the Japanese yen, the Chinese yuan and so on. In a real sense, we’re just not as rich as we used to be.

Less purchasing power means we can’t bring home as much of that Bordeaux as we used to or eat as much Kobe beef if we happen to be in Tokyo. Maybe that’s a loss we can live with.

But here’s one downside to the shrinking greenback that’s even more ominous. Around the world, there’s growing nervousness about the value of the greenback as a reserve. What does that mean? Well, you and I bank at the retail level, so to speak. When we have an extra buck or two, we march it into Citibank or some other bank nearby.

When a whole country has extra cash, it has a slightly different choice to make. It can keep its extra cash in the form of its own currency and here’s the rub it can keep it in the form of somebody else’s currency.

So, over the years, when a country like Saudi Arabia made an extra billion or so in oil money, it could convert those billions into another currency and hold them in its central bank. Throughout the last century, the decision Saudi Arabia and most any country with extra dough made was simple put the extra dough into good old American greenbacks.

That choice worked for them. And it worked for us. It worked for them because the dollar was the strongest, safest currency in the world. No risk the money would be worthless overnight. It worked for us because if all the big central banks are holding dollars, that stabilizes our greenback’s value around the world it kind of makes us the House in casino terms. The world is playing on our currency terms, so everyone around the table has a vested interest in keeping our greenbacks —and US strong.

But now, all that may be changing.

With the decline of the greenback, central bankers around the world are starting to get nervous. Afterall, who wants to convert a billion in oil to greenbacks only to wake up the next morning and find you only have a measly $300 million. Now, of course the decline is not that steep that quickly, but you get the point.

On January 12, 2005, the head of Saudi Arabia’s central bank made the first of what became over the last two years, a steady drumbeat of negative statements about the dollar’s future as the world’s reserve currency. Hamad Saud Al Sayyari, governor of the Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency, stated that he expects the euro to play a greater role in global currency reserves in the future, although there has been no shift so far from dollars to euros. So far?

Not exactly a vote of confidence.

Here’s the problem. If nervous heads become nervous feet, leading to a stampede out of the dollar by the central bankers, that in and of itself will hammer the dollar’s value. And where will that exodus of dollars go? Into stronger currencies euros, Chinese yuan, wherever there the values are holding steady.

All this might be not be so alarming if our general economy were not itself in a no-ones-saying-it recession, with the spiraling costs of war and the mortgage meltdown. So, there’s no economic engine to drive the dollar back up.

Do the foreign central bankers know something we ordinary Americans don’t? Or is now a good time to start learning how much that doggie in the window costs in Chinese yuan? Can we put our retirement nest eggs in euros?

Kids, board up the barn, this one looks like a perfect storm.

DoorDash Vs Postmates: Which Is Better for Drivers?

It would be nice to have a side hustle with a flexible schedule, right? Postmates and DoorDash are food delivery apps that can help you make some extra cash.

With the whole Coronavirus situation, most people are not going to restaurants. They are ordering from home. So you can be a freelancer for the two apps, delivering for as many restaurants as you want.

If you want to know which one is the best between the two, here is a comparison.

How the Delivery Apps Work

To join the fleet, you need to download the apps then wait for delivery requests. The orders are mostly for convenient stores and restaurants. Postmates partners with the Apple Store and retail stores such as Walgreens.

Log in when you are free and you will be assigned deliveries. About payment, you can either wait for the weekly payment (which is standard) or request to be paid for the day.

DoorDash

It is available in 4,000 United States cities. If you are in Australia and Canada you can join too.

The app operates in smaller cities as well. So you will be working with locally owned and national restaurants.

The national partners include:

  • Bonefish grill
  • The Cheesecake Factory
  • Chipotle
  • Papa John’s Pizza
  • Wendy’s
  • McDonald’s

Convenience stores include:

  • 7-Eleven
  • Casey’s General Store
  • Wawa

Postmates

It operates in large- and mid-size cities all over America. It is less likely to operate in smaller towns—unless it is a major tourist destination.

This is what you will deliver when you join the Postmates fleet:

  • Alcohol
  • Groceries
  • Merchandise
  • Restaurant Takeout

Can You Work with Both?

As a freelancer, you can deliver with both apps. You will receive more requests and make more money.

But it is probably best if you join one at a time. They both offer new driver bonuses if you make a set number of deliveries within a specific period.

DoorDash Vs Postmates

Driver Requirements

The minimum requirements are similar for both apps:

  • Pass a personal background check
  • Have access to a scooter or car
  • Valid car insurance
  • Minimum age of 18 years

How Long Will It Take to Join?

The background check can take two days. You will receive a welcome kit once you have passed.

How Much Will You Make?

The payment models for the two apps are similar but they don’t mention the hourly pay. Just plan for $15/hour (this is before bonuses and tips).

The flat amount you get paid for each delivery ranges from $2 to $10.

With DoorDash and Postmates, you make money in three ways:

  • Base pay
  • Customer tips
  • Bonuses

Getting Paid

Weekly payments are sent out every Monday morning for the two apps. You can ask for a daily payment at a fee.

Making Money From Thrift Stores

Walk through any thrift store and you’re bound to bump into an eBay Powerseller or two replenishing their eBay inventory. The truth is there are still good bargains available at thrift stores for resale on eBay if you’re astute enough to spot them.

While it’s true you’ll probably pay more at a thrift store than you would at a garage sale, the prices for some items are still low enough for you to make a decent profit. The key, of course, is to do enough research on eBay to know what types of used items are hot sellers. And, I don’t mean a quick little glance. I mean really do your homework.

For example, if you’re interested in buying and selling used men’s shirts, go to eBay and perform searches for “used men’s shirt,” “nearly new shirt,” “gently worn” and all the other synonyms you can find for “used.” Go through the “vintage” category and the “collectibles – cultures, ethnicities” for Hawaiian shirts. Research the labels. Note any patterns and colors. Do some sizes sell better than others? (I always found I had a harder time selling men’s shirts in size small).

Do the same type of research with all the used items you may find at a thrift store: clothing, shoes, boots (especially used cowboy boots), purses, books (don’t ignore cookbooks – they can sometimes sell very well, especially the Betty Crocker Pie Cover cookbook).

When you find a thrift store or two (or, hopefully, more) that offers good quality used products go back often as new items are added every day.

With used clothing it’s very important to thoroughly check for any tears or stains, because once you buy it, it’s yours, you can’t take it back. I once bought several collectible Hawaiian shirts I had checked for tears and stains, but failed to check the collars. When I got them home I found they all had a bad case of “ring around the collar” which didn’t come out in the wash.

Of course, I had to disclose that in my descriptions on eBay. The shirts sold, but for less than what they could have sold for in better condition. Also, check for any odors that may be tough to get out with washing or dry cleaning. (Do make sure you wash or dry clean all used clothing you list on eBay.)

While it’s true that used clothing and other items do sell well on eBay, your research will help you spot items with which you’ll actually make a profit.

There’s a thought out there among some that you can slap anything on eBay and make money. Not true. If you don’t do your research you may find yourself losing money. Don’t just assume there’s a sucker born every minute and that anything will sell on eBay. Without proper research you might end up finding out the sucker is you.

  2. Research Keywords: Next, you need to know how to choose keywords that can help you get a good amount of traffic, without being too competitive to get on the first or second page. Keyword Suggestion Tool is a handy little tool that will help you to determine which phrases are searched most often on both Wordtracker and Overture.
  3. Write An Article: Then you can write an article about the subject of the product you chose. You should carefully calculate the keyword density for SEO purposes. At the end of each article, don’t forget to include a resource box with your affiliate link that you are promoting.
  4. Submit the Article: Submit that article to every free article directory you can find. You may want to modify the resource box, title or some words in one of the paragraph slightly with each submission.

It’s fairly easy and everyone should do it. Best of all, it doesn’t cost you a cent.

Repeat these steps until you are earning more than $100 a week. Once you start earning more than $100 a week, you can spend some of your earnings hiring freelance writers to write for you. These freelance writers will ghost write articles for you and you own the copyrights of these articles.

You can also invest some money on article submission software or getting an article submission service. Ghostwriting and submission service allow you to spend more time working on other aspects of your online business and make more money.

5 Sure-Fire Ways to Make Money Online

There are many ways to make money online today, and thousands of people are earning a substantial income from the comfort of their own homes. How are they making money? With a successful Internet business, of course!

Perhaps you want to earn a part-time income from home or start a full-time Internet business. Maybe you’re a mom who wants to stay home while earning a living. Or, maybe you’re sick and tired of the “rat race” and want to settle down with your own home business. Whatever the case, you can choose one of the sure-fire methods of making money online below to get started.

  1. Offer Services That Other Web Business Owners Will Need

Many people earn money online while offering services that other Web business owners need on a continual basis. These services include Web hosting, domain name registration, web design, and content writing. Every new website must have a Web host, domain name, web designer and content. These services are available everywhere online, but fortunately, there’s always room for a few more! Online users are starting new Internet businesses every day. So, the potential for making money online with these services is tremendous.

You can start from scratch with these businesses or find a company that allows you to resell its products and services. For instance, instead of setting up your own servers to become a Web host, you can become a reseller of hosting services and share a part of the profits. With this setup, your primary job is to promote the service. The parent Web host company does the rest.

  1. Expand Your Present Business

If you already own a business, you can expand it by using a website. If your company has its own website, your customers can go online to learn more about you, buy your products or ask questions. It’s a great way to advertise and build customer trust. Also, you can mention your website address in all your print, television and radio advertising to maximize results.

  1. Start a “Niche” Internet Business

Many people start small Internet businesses that reflect who they are or what they enjoy. The word “niche” took on a whole new meaning when the Internet came into existence. A niche business can be anything you want it to be – an online flower shop, online classic car club, online magazine, online clothing store, online shopping mall, online photo stock agency, online candy store, online quilt outlet, or an online shoe store. Choose something you enjoy doing and find a way to build a small Internet business around that theme. And, don’t let the word “small” fool you. Owning a small business is a great way to make money on the Internet!

  1. Earn Money Online Through Auctions

Don’t have time to manage a website? Try online auctions. You can sell just about anything at eBay and other Internet auction sites, but be sure you choose a market that has a strong demand. Some items sell well through auctions, some don’t. Also, be sure to choose a product with a high profit margin so you don’t lose money each time you list your items.

  1. Provide Internet Marketing Services

Online company owners are always looking for effective ways to promote their websites. If you’re a savvy Internet marketer, this business offers a tremendous money opportunity for you. You can earn money online while helping others increase their profits. Internet marketing today involves search engine promotion and SEO, Web content and optimization for article pages, pay-per-click campaigns, keyword research, press releases, banner and pop-up advertising, e-zine and mailing lists, and link exchanges. You can specialize in one of these areas or offer marketing techniques for all categories.

These are five proven ways to make money online. Each of these opportunities can provide a steady stream of income if you work diligently to promote your online business and services and always provide excellent customer service. Use these ideas to get started making money today!

$3 Million in 6 Months With Adsense!

The Power Play Interviews: Markus Frind- $3 Million in 6 Months

This is the first in a series of Internet Success Stories that you will begin to see on the Power Play Blog. Hope you enjoy them!

Markus Frind, the creator of Plentyoffish.com is a success story worth noting, as he has managed to take a niche formerly ruled by giant corporations and give it his own brand of marketing savvy. A case of David vs. Goliath, where the little guy comes out on top in the end. Markus is the top “individual” adsense publisher in terms of pageviews. Lets find out what some of his secrets are as he shares some advice with our readers. Feel free to comment!

Markus, what is your experience in computer programming and how did it prepare you for becoming a webmaster?

The average pageviews a day is around 14 million for the last week. I’m getting another 80 million pageviews a day from users polling the site to see if they have new messages. Really intensive bandwidth wise!

When I go to your website, I notice that the ads are targeted to my region, yet I have not even registered- can you explain to our readers how you accomplish this feat?

I’m just using ip2location.com- Basically i take your IP, look it up in the database and it tells me what your city is. I then bring up a list of users in your city, nothing magical about it at all.

Are most of your visitors coming primarily from search engines (SERPS), or are you finding that they come from other avenues? Do you actively advertise in the media?

Search engines account for something like 2% of my traffic. The vast majority of my traffic, like any other site with over 5 million pageviews a day comes from word of mouth, and repeat visitors.

The services on your site seem to be offered at no cost to the registrants. Is there some advantage you have over your competitors that allows you to do this?

I’ve developed new algorithms that allow me to create a mega site for next to no cost. Several years ago I created algorithm that was thousands of times faster then the algorithm used in the 1990’s to find a string of 22 prime numbers. At the time a professor used several super computers and hundreds of regular computers over the course of several years to find a record. I did the same thing on 1 computer in 2 weeks.

Fascinating! Are there any other sites you currently maintain, or is plentyoffish.com the only one?

Its the only site at the moment. I’ve got a few other sites I registered for friends so they could learn to do marketing/affiliate stuff. At this point i think 1 site is enough.

Any tips for those looking to create a profitable endeavor on the internet?

IF someone else thinks what you are doing is a cool idea I’d say it isn’t… Find something no one else thinks is important and build up a site with big traffic in that area. Also keep in mind, sites that have low monetization today but have traffic may be the gold mines of tomorrow. In the internet world anything and everything will be monetized at some point and traffic is king.

Traffic is King- very wise advice, Markus. One last question- How do you find the time to maintain such a large commodity on the internet? Surely you must have some other interests in life besides programming and website monitoring?

It only takes a hour a day on average, but its very tiring work. I spend the other couple of hours reading and seeing what is going on.

Five eSports Predictions: How Entrepreneurs Can Cash In

2018 was quite the year for eSports. Fortnite dominated headlines while League of Legends made it to Asian Games. Games have never received that kind of attention from mainstream media. Experts in this field do not expect the trajectory of eSports to slow down soon. They believe that better and bigger things await. If you are starting to explore eSports or you are already a veteran in the field, you should consider the following key trends as you draw your 2019 business strategy.

New Titles Will Move to the Top 5 eSports Rankings

In 2019, new games are likely to challenge the existing giants. The market keeps seeing new content every day. It is safe to say that the best future eSport has not been created, yet. Consumers want innovative content. The most popular trends as at now include mobile experiences, multiplayer competition and shooters—and this is what you may see in future blockbusters.

Increase in Brand Investments in Sports

The viewership of eSports is expected to rise to 600 million by 2020. Brands seeking to take advantage of an increasingly competitive and lucrative market will take an interest in sponsorship. Some of the prominent sponsors that have invested in eSports so far include the U.S Navy, Adidas, T-Mobile, Mercedes-Benz and Coca-Cola. The investments are likely to increase this year. Gamers are a highly sought-after audience because they are mostly young and quite loyal to their preferred games. Mobile eSports Are Likely to Go Mainstream (and Even Sell Out Professional Stadiums)

In 2019, the estimated number of mobile gamers in the world is 2.3 billion, so you can say that mobile is a super popular gaming platform.

This year do not be surprised if you see players earning collegiate scholarships and significant salaries from mobile eSports. Countries like China have already witnessed mobile gaming taking the center stage.

Heightened Cheating Risks Will Be Experienced in the Industry

eSports growth is nothing short of impressive; but that does not come without risk. Just like with offline sports, the fortune and fame that athletes get will attract cheaters. Approximately one million PUBG accounts were banned by BattlEye in 2018 due to hacking. Developers are making banning of cheaters their highest priority. In China, this crime attracts multi-million-dollar fines and jail time. No matter how hard the industry works to stop cheaters, the perpetrators’ fraudulent efforts will still increase.

Production Value and Availability Will Increase

eSports are already being featured on ESPN, YouTube and other prominent platforms. In 2018, a huge eSports league, ESL, signed a streaming deal with Facebook. The amount was not disclosed. A good number of channels, both emerging and traditional, want to show tournaments to their viewers. Any developer or company that wants to go into eSports broadcasting should keep an eye out for the increasing number of distribution options. This will help them select the best channels suited for their content for maximum impact.

10 of the Best Side Hustles Can Help You Out

Side gigs or side hustles are small jobs outside your day job. These hustles can help you earn some extra cash or pay off your debts. Through these small jobs you can also explore passions and unused skills.

Common Characteristics of the Best Side Hustles

Flexibility: a side hustle should not interfere with your regular job. The first thing you should look for in a side gig is flexibility. Enjoyable: whatever you settle on as a side hustle should be something that you find enjoyable. Most of your free time will be spent doing it so it might as well be an activity that fits your interests and personality. Low cost of entry: some gigs will require a significant amount of capital. Your side hustle should bring in more money than it costs you.

10 Great Side Hustles

Rideshare Driving

You can bring in a good amount of money using your car. Lyft, Uber and other rideshare companies are constantly looking for drivers. You will need a four-door vehicle with a five-people capacity, vehicle insurance and registration. You also must pass driving and criminal background checks. You cannot be below 21 years old. The average earning for drivers is $25 an hour.

Meal Delivery

If you do not like to have strangers in your car, you can opt for meal delivery. Services that allow for this side hustle include DoorDash, Grubhub and Ubereats.

Freelance Work

Make use of any special skills by signing up on a freelance network. Upwork and Fiverr are some of the platforms through which you can charge money for your financial consulting, digital marketing, coding, graphic design, and copywriting skills.

Rent an Airbnb

Why let a spare room just sit there when you can make money with it? You will have a chance of making a good amount of money especially if your place is desirable.

Online Tutoring

This is a side hustle that allows you to impart skills while making money at the same time. You can sign up on online tutoring companies (TutorMe, Brainfuse, Tutor.com, etc.) and teach several topics. The pay is usually $9 to $25.

Teach English

Companies such as Italki, QKids and VIPKid connect instructors in the U.S with students who desire to learn English as their second language.

Sell Craft Goods

Service jobs are not the only side hustles available. A myriad of online platforms such as Amazon Handmade, Shopify, eBay, and Etsy allow you to sell handmade goods from the comfort of your home.

Deliver Groceries

Many people do not like to go to the supermarket. You can help them and earn money in the process using Shipt, Instacart and other grocery delivery services.

Create an online course on a subject that you are very good at. Udemy is a great place to start.

Sell T-Shirts Online

Upload your eye-catching or catchy slogans on RedBubble, Printful or Amazon Merch and sell without going through the trouble of shipping and inventory.

Starting a Dog Walking Business? What You Should Know

If you love dogs, then a dog walking business may seem like the perfect job for you. However, there are few important factors you should consider before diving in. Although most of your working time will be spent walking dogs, this niche is not different from other kinds of businesses. You will oversee marketing, advertising, banking, invoices, and a ton of other tasks. You will have many responsibilities ranging from returning emails and calls to maintaining your website and filing taxes. You may hire someone to help you with some of the tasks or you may do them all by yourself—either way, they must be done. Running a business comes with a magnitude of responsibilities but it has many advantages too. For instance, you will be doing what you love.

Research

If you are sure you can handle the non-dog-walking parts of this business, the next step is extensive research. This will help you know whether your business has a chance of being successful. Is the demand for a dog walker there in your area? What about the competition? With too much competition and very little demand, you stand no chance. Talk to those who work in pet grooming and pet stores. You can also get this information from classified ads.

Training

Even though you love dogs and have a way with them, you need the experience and skill of controlling dogs. Either take a dog training course or volunteer at a local shelter. This will help you interact with different types of dogs and prepare you properly for the business. You will also gain confidence.

Legal Considerations

Do not fall into the temptation of skipping these steps until your business grows.  This small mistake can attract huge penalties and fines. Select a business entity: your dog walking business can be a sole proprietor (many dog walkers opt for this) but choosing a different form of business may be wise. You will be responsible for any damages done to or by the dogs and you may, therefore, want to think about choosing a limited liability corporation. Licensing issues: a license specifically for dog walking may not be necessary in many jurisdictions but a general business license is required. Investigate what is required in your location.

Local rules and regulations: if you are going to be a professional dog walker, make sure you know about all the local regulations that could affect you. Dog walking contract: a written contract is a must-have between your clients and your business. The contact should outline your responsibilities, terms of compensation, among other things. To be on the safe side, make it as specific as possible.

Insurance

Whenever the dogs are in your care, you are responsible for them. Buy good insurance coverage to safeguard yourself.

Franchise Opportunities

Buying a franchise is a great alternative. While it may be expensive, the benefits are many.

How to Make Over $500,000 Flipping Domain Names

Flipping domain names is a great way to make money. Successful domain flippers will even tell you that making $100,000 is not that big of a deal. According to Flippa reports, domain names have been sold for millions.

Look at how much these domain names sold for:

CarInsurance.com – $49.7 million

Insurance.com – $35.6 million

VacationRentals.com – $35 million

PrivateJet.com – $30.18 million

Internet.com – $18 million

Domains in the secondary market are sold for an average of thousands of dollars. You already know that you can make money flipping domains, but how exactly do you do it?  Every year, 47,450,000 domains are newly registered while 42,625,000 more are sold to new owners. That means that you have 90,075,000 potential customers who are ready to spend money on domain names. Given this number, you can easily get to $10,000 per month working no more than 10 hours a week.

One thing is for sure, though, making money is never easy and in some cases, it is neither cheap nor profitable. Here are your other options. You will notice that they are not always that good. Running Google Ads: you probably do not know this but every time a visitor clicks on your ads, you pay $0.5 – $5. Google can also shut you down anytime.

Building websites: this is only sensible if you know how to build websites; otherwise, you must hire someone to do it which costs money. Affiliate marketing: you can make a significant amount of money with this method, but specialized knowledge is required. Without lots of practice or training, you will barely make money. You will also have to spend some money.

The above alternatives are not that bad. However, you will need to put a lot of money and time initially to start seeing results. If you are looking for a better way, domain flipping is worth a try. What is domain flipping? Flipping, in simple terms, is buying a product at a low price then reselling at a higher price.

The first thing you need to get started in this business is a marketplace or platform. The number one marketplace is Flippa. Thousands of buyers and sellers visit this site daily. It, therefore, offers you a better opportunity to make the kind of money that you want. Other great sites are Brand Bucket, Domain Market and Sedo. What Does a Great Domain Entail? It should be easy to remember when a domain is easy to remember, the task of promoting and marketing is made easier. Find keyword-rich domains: the domain should have keywords that match the business.

Buy brandable domains: this requires creativity. In addition to being keyword-rich, it helps if a domain name sounds like a brand. Only go for .com domain extensions: this is the most common and ideal domain extension. If you are buying an expired domain, make sure it is a high-quality one. Remember, you can buy and sell as many domain names as you want at the same time.

How to Make Money with Airbnb

Airbnb was launched in 2008. It started as an online platform where people looking for accommodation were connected to people who wanted to rent out space.

Being an Airbnb host almost seems like being the owner of a mini motel. And some people may think that it’s just too much work. But you don’t need a lot of capital or experience to start.

How Airbnb Works

It has a very simple business model. There are people with extra space and they’d like to make good use of it so as to reduce cost of ownership. Then there are travelers who are willing to pay for somewhere to stay when in town or have cheaper, homely accommodation for longer periods.

Is Airbnb Hosting Right for You?

Potential hosts are the backbone of Airbnb. The company is just a middleman. Because of the high demand for accommodation caused by the growing popularity of Airbnb, there has been an inventory shortage. Some super hosts are even becoming overwhelmed by the demand. This means that there’s an opportunity for you if you desire to get in the business.

Making Money with Airbnb

While this may seem like a simple business, you still need a plan. First, know your market and assess whether your listing will have demand.

Airbnb Vs Traditional Leasing: Case Study

Suppose there’s a property worth $300,000. Your initial costs include costs of closing (insurance, inspection, etc.) and down payment. So the total cost is roughly $70,000.

Don’t let this scare you. This cost is almost doubled up. You can find good properties for half that price.

Traditional Tenant Revenue

After acquiring the property, assume you get a tenant. The lease is a traditional one at $3000 a month. You will collect $36,000 in revenue by the end of the year. The standard cost of maintenance is 1% of property value. Your revenue is now $3000 less. If you account for managing costs, you may end up with about $31,300.

Return on Investment

So you invested $70,000 and got $30000 after one year. But if you subtract property tax, insurance and mortgage payment, you’ll end up with less than $10k.

Comparing with Airbnb

Using the same property, assume the daily rate is roughly $50. In a month, you have 150 bookable nights. With a 90% occupancy rate, you can expect to have 135 booked nights in a month. That’s $6750. Add $12 cleaning fees with each turnover. If you estimate 70 turnovers, that will be $840. The total income is now $7590.

Now subtract cleaning (about $1400), utilities ($400), supply cost ($600) and mortgage ($2000). Your net income will be $2515. Add insurance premium ($100) and the total is $3440.

Airbnb is definitely more profitable.

Note: you will need a higher initial investment because of furnishing and decorating.

Advantages of a Traditional Lease

  • Dependable renters
  • Lower initial investment
  • Easy to find management
  • Low regulation risk

Why You Should Consider Airbnb

  • Higher potential revenue
  • Lower variance revenue
  • Less wear and damage on property

Airbnb Risks

  • Potential regulation by the city
  • You need liability protection
